KTM held a media event in Southern California earlier today, where it was confirmed that Brian Moreau will sit beneath the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM awning in 2020. The move was heavily rumoured on both sides at the Atlantic but has now been made official, as has the fact that he will run 104 as his number in what will be rookie season. A brief quote from Tyler Keefe, the team manager at Troy Lee, can be found below.
"We got news from Robert Jonas in Europe that there was a really good kid from France and we should take a look at him, so we watched some races and stuff and brought him over here."
Moreau finished twenty-third in the MX2 class in the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship, with a season-best finish of eighth in a moto. Supercross has always been a priority of his, however, hence why he competed in the Amateur All-Stars class at the Monster Energy Cup last year. Moreau finished fifth overall on that night. His thoughts on his move to the USA can be found below.
"I mean, I did supercross in the past but not so much. We will have to work on it. It will be a new experience, but I am so thankful to be here with the team. It's a dream come true. I'm really happy. There are a lot of good people around me, so I am really grateful. Thank you to everyone."
Brandon Hartranft, Derek Drake and Pierce Brown will make up the rest of the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM outfit in 2020. Hartranft spent the last two seasons with Cycle Trader Rock River Yamaha. Drake and Brown are graduates from the TLD amateur programme.
